For 100 Million years Gar have inhabited the Earth. They were here to see the dinosaurs die out and to see man begin his onslaught on water habitats the world over. They survived all this time by having a body that is tough and adaptable. Gar are classified in the phylum Chordata , subphylum Vertebrata, class Osteichthyes, order Lepisosteiformes, family Lepisosteidae.
